It starts with you

As you start to work on yourself, your flaws, shortcomings and bad habits are brought to light. You begin to own your flaws addressing your issues and admit to your mistakes. Often it’s a bit much, overwhelming and overstimulating you don’t know where to start. You can quickly spiral out of control head first into a wall if you’re not careful. You have to leave your ego at the door, stop worrying about what others think, stop comparing yourself to your peers and do some deep soul loving.

The voice in your head maybe on repeat telling you, “You suck, you’re a loser, no one likes you, you’ll never amount to anything, you always screw things up, you don’t deserve happiness” etc. That’s your depleted ego talking and you need to silence her until she’s bigger and more confident. You have to start loving yourself. Unconditionally love yourself.

Praise your good qualities and attributes, your smile, your eyes, your figure, your work ethics, your heart, your compassion. Praise the love you give others, your kindness, your strength, your resilience, your softness, your intelligence and athleticism. Praise your talents and skills. Be proud of all you’ve overcome and the things you accomplished in spite of the obstacles you have faced. Do things you enjoy, go hiking, paint a picture, write a poem, go try a new restaurant, go to the gym, get your hair done, start doing things you enjoy. Bring joy and happiness back into your picture. Create a safe place for your soul. You can’t stand on trial constantly being judged even if the judge is yourself and expect positive change. Don’t continue to beat yourself while you’re already down it’s time to build yourself back up. Own your flaws but also own your strengths. Love yourself and everything else will fall into place.
