Take your shot

I’m remodeling a house with my husband. He’s great at everything he does. He can build houses, fix cars, take things apart and naturally just know how they go back together. I……I’m just not that good at any of that stuff, I’m a hard worker but my hands are either too weak for some task or my hand eye coordination just ain’t there. I hate being bad at stuff, during this whole remodel process my ego has taken a hit. I suck at drilling, screwing, nailing, scraping, hanging, cutting, measuring lol I pretty much suck at all the construction stuff. But I won’t let my husband do it all on his own so I keep on keeping on and with repetitive practice I’m a little bit better and can actually help more and more. My coordination is better then when we started, I’m not stripping as many screws or bits, I can cut a little straighter, my muscles are a little stronger, I’m no pro by any stretch but I didn’t give up, I didn’t simply say I can’t do this and walk away, I didn’t let my wounded ego prevent me from helping him. I took my shot, I slug the hammer, I drilled the screw, I cut the Sheetrock, I hung the studs, I mudded the walls, I hauled the trash. I set my insecurities to the side and at least tried to do the damn thing.

That’s life….. you will miss 100% of the shots you never take. You will not get that promotion if you don’t apply, you won’t get the date if you don’t ask, you won’t learn new things if you don’t try them, you’ll never move forward if you don’t take that first step. Trust me I get it , it sucks to not be good at something but how else will you get better if you don’t try, don’t practice, don’t stick with it. We are our own worst critic, constantly getting in our own way of learning, growing and doing new things. Stop standing in your way of taking your shots, just take them, and take them over and over until you hit your mark.
